Manchester United transfer news: £23.7m bid linked and midfielder generating interest

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

The Daily Star has picked up on reports from Portugal claiming Manchester United have made a late bid for Benfica midfielder Enzo Perez.

The Argentine midfield was outstanding for the Primeira Liga champions last season, to such an extent that they barely missed Nemanja Matic when he completed his January move to Chelsea.

Perez has been linked with United for a while, with the player even saying that both they and Valencia were interested in him. But now it is claimed United are willing to pay Perez’s £23.75million asking-price.

He would be a brilliant addition, but were he to arrive that would probably be the end of the rumours linking William Carvalho with a move to Old Trafford.

They do however still face competition from Valencia, who are said to have already offered that amount for the 28-year-old.

In other news, the Express has picked up on reports in Italy claiming Fiorentina are interested in United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Doubts remain over the £27.5million player’s future at the club with Louis van Gaal likely to bring in a number of new faces this summer.
