Manchester City latest: Stars back for training, Lopes loan move, £6m deal reportedly close

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Manchester City youngster Marcos Lopes has joined French side Lille on a season-long loan.

The 18-year-old shone when he appeared for the Blues’ first-team in the League Cup semi-final against West Ham United. But rather than given limited chances at the Etihad, he has been sent to Ligue 1 where Manuel Pellegrini will hope he gets more opportunities.

If he continues on his current trajectory, the young Portuguese attacker could return to Manchester ready for a regular first-team spot.

In other news, some City players returned for pre-season training today, with the likes of Alvaro Negredo, Jesus Navas and Gael Clichy all taking part in the session.

Those player who have been involved in the World Cup are on extended breaks, while City also have four players still on duty in Brazil.

And finally, ESPN report that City have no interest in Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez.

They claim City sources have told them that they will not be moving for the in-demand Chilean. However, they are allegedly on the verge of signing £6million-rated Malaga goalkeeper Willy Caballero as a replacement for the departed Costel Pantilimon.
