A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur…
New Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is stepping up his chase for Southampton defender Dejan Lovren according to reports.
The Sunday People claims Pochettino wants the Croatian centre-back but could face a fee of around £20million to get his man.
The report adds that while the Saints understandably want to keep the player at St Mary’s, Lovren wants to move on.
After an outstanding debut season in England, Lovren would be a huge coup for Spurs as they look to build a more formidable defence in their bid to crack a top-four in a challenge that looks increasingly difficult.
In other news, Tottenham have also been linked with Algeria left-back Faouzi Ghoulam.
The Napoli defender has impressed at the World Cup and now Insidefutbol has picked up on reports from Eurosport that Spurs are among the sides monitoring the player.
Left-back remains something of a problem position for Tottenham and Ghoulam could be the answer, but Napoli are unlikely to sell for anything less than a head-turning fee having only recently signed the 23-year-old.
