Spurs transfer news: Lloris speaks about his future; Dutch centre-back linked

White Hart Lane

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur could face a battle with North London rivals Arsenal for reported target Joel Veltman.

The Mirror claims the two sides are interested in the Dutch centre-back, with Spurs said to have been monitoring the 22-year-old for some time.

Spurs fans will be all too aware of their need for a new quality centre-back, but the latest suggestion is that Arsenal could make their move if – as expected – Thomas Vermaelen leaves this summer.

In other news, Hugo Lloris has been speaking to Italian website TMW following France’s elimination from the World Cup.

Doubts remain over the goalkeeper’s future, but he reiterated that he has a deal at White Hart Lane for some time to come.

When asked what the future may hold at club level, Lloris is quoted as saying, “I do not know my future. I have a three-year contract with Tottenham and this is the most important thing. Currently, I am focused only on my holiday, the ability to relax, then we will see in the next few days.”

Lloris shone for his country in the World Cup, keeping three clean-sheets in five matches. And new Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino will be desperate to keep the player at White Hart Lane.
