Chelsea fans react to David Luiz's performance against Colombia: 'He has so much character and is always hungry to win'

Former Chelsea player David Luiz scored what proved to be the vital goal for Brazil on Friday evening, so what did fans of his ex-club think?

David Luiz has come in for some criticism in the past, with a number of fans believing he is not the world-class defender others would have you believe.

But at this summer's World Cup, the new Paris Saint-Germain defender has shone for Brazil, playing a vital role as the hosts continue their march to what they hope will be the sweetest of triumphs in their homeland.

In Friday's quarter-final against Colombia, Luiz scored the second goal and was again strong in defence, keeping the likes of James Rodriguez at bay until the prolific Monaco man netted with a late penalty.

He may have stolen the headlines for his impressive second-half free-kick, but Luiz also shone when carrying out the bread-and-butter of his game, making six effective clearances, winning five duels and making four interceptions.

Chelsea fans are split on whether Luiz's departure will be good or bad for the club, although you would be hard-pressed to find any who do not think it is excellent business in terms of the fee they are reportedly receiving.

But having watched the 27-year-old play for his country this summer, could some Blues fans suddenly be wishing the player was not heading to France?
