Debuchy confirms Instagram account is fake after 'Bonjour Arsenal' message

Mathieu Debuchy has told a French reporter he is off to Arsenal, while an Instagram account in his name has added to the confusion.

France are out of the World Cup after a limp defeat against Germany in the quarter finals yesterday, meaning a number of Arsenal players are now heading home.

Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny will be back at London Colney shortly, after a brief respite, but Bacary Sagna will of course not be attending - as he is on his way to Manchester City.

But Sagna is set to be replaced by another man coming home with Les Bleus - Mathieu Debuchy.

The French international and Newcastle United player recently made it clear that he wanted to play Champions League football this season. Arsenal have since swooped in, shelving plans to bring in Serge Aurier as a consequence and a medical is now reportedly all that is between Debuchy and a rumoured £8 million North London switch.

Now a post on an Instagram account that claims to be the official account of Mathieu Debuchy has sent this message attached to this picture:

"Au revoir Brésil. Bonjour @arsenal."

That would certainly indicate he is Arsenal bound, but this Instagram account has been labelled a fake in the past.

Now Debuchy has taken to his official Facebook account to confirm that the Instagram account in question is indeed a fake - so no confirmation on social media from Debuchy regarding a done deal:

However, Debuchy himself confirmed he was Arsenal bound after the defeat yesterday. He told reporters from French TV station TF1:

"Yes, I will be joining Arsenal for next season."

Debuchy is clearly going to be an Arsenal player, and official confirmation is now, seemingly, imminent pending his medical.

Until then expect a few more Debuchy teases.
