Up there with the best games of the year Mario Kart 8 helped shift a lot of Wii Us. Here's five more games this year that should sell a few more.
We realise that some of the games below are still to get confirmed release dates and that they may be subject to delays but the fourth quarter gaming watershed currently carries some big titles for Wii U which on the whole are also exclusives making the Wii U stand out and hold its own.
Super Smash Bros - 4th Quarter 2014
Already set to land on 3DS in October the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros is currently due for a 4th Quarter release. Both versions took the critics awards as best handheld game on 3DS and best fighting game following E3 and the game is set to be the first to support Nintendo’s upcoming NFC ‘amiibo’ figures. A fighter of outright silliness, Super Smash Bros not only celebrates some of the most iconic figures in gaming history but also lets you definitively sort out which ones would win in a fight!
Bayonetta 2 - October 2014
It caused a fair old stir when it was announced the sequel to the cult classic Bayonetta would be a WIi U exclusive. Fans of Bayonetta wanting more of the highly stylized sleek witching action will need a Wii U now. The new Bayonetta is looking to have all the draw of the original and each copy of Bayonetta 2 will also net you the original game, giving a great chance for action games fans to dip into them.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker - 4th Quarter 2014
Toad gets his first main part in Treasure Tracker which has you.puzzling your way through levels to pick up stars. With no ability to jump Captain Toad instead pulls up roots that reveal coins and turnips to throw at the enemy. Toad also gets a temporary pick axe to bash through blocks and baddies. Making use of the Wii U GamePad players will be able to use the touch screen to move objects and the gyroscopic controls come into play allowing you to aim turnips whilst taking a ride on a minecart. All in all Captain Toad is looking fun and inventive enough to get people interested. Check out the trailer above.
Hyrule Warriors - September 2014
A new Dynasty Warriors cross-over with the Zelda universe which has Link and co getting fierce in some epic large scale hack and slashing. Something to keep Zelda fans interested while next years big open world marvel Zelda game is in the making and also a game for fans of relentless yet addicting combat.
Devil’s Third - TBA
This game stuck out like a sore thumb at E3 and although there’s not a lot known about Devil’s Third it looks gratuitously violent, knowingly over the top and just a little absurd. It’s a big showpiece action game for Wii U only which has potential draw to fans of hack and slash and third person shooters as Devil’s Third has a bit of both. We have the trailer above.
