Germany have been the most consistent international side so far this century, and it is no surprise that they have booked their place in the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.
On Friday, the three-time world champions got the better of their European rivals France 1-0 in the quarter-final at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro.
Mats Hummels’ goal in the 13th minute proved to be enough for Die Mannschaft to secure their place in the last four.
It is the third time in a row that Germany have reached the semi-finals of the World Cup, while back in 2002 they went one step ahead and qualified for the final.
To do the same again this time, Joachim Low’s side would have to beat hosts Brazil at the Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte on July 8, but for now, the Germany players are just happy and revelling in their triumph.
After the match, Arsenal duo Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski took to social networking site Twitter to express their delight at Germany retaining their chances of becoming the first European team to win the World Cup outside of their own continent.
Defeating Brazil in the semi-finals will not be easy for Germany, who have not exactly been imperious in their five matches so far at the World Cup.
Arsenal midfielder Ozil has been particularly underwhelming, as the former Real Madrid star has shown flashes of his brilliance and has yet to impose himself on the tournament like he did in South Africa four years ago.
Podolski has been largely a fringe player for Germany at the World Cup and has not even played an hour of football in Brazil.

However, Germany have a strong and talented squad full of experienced players, who will give Brazil a run for their money in the next round.
The semi-final tie between two of the most successful international teams promises to be very intriguing and exciting.
