The newly-promoted Premier League club have signed former West Ham and Portsmouth man Taylor on a free transfer, while Sordell joins on an undisclosed fee from Bolton.
Clarets boss Sean Dyche is delighted at the captures, after Burnley also recently confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Matt Gilks.
The club are reportedly trying to land Troy Deeney, as well, though Watford have rejected their initial bid for the striker.
Dyche told the club's official website: “We know we are going into what is arguably the best league in the world and we also know that it helps to have experience at that level.
“Matt has an abundance of that, as well as being a very talented player. Certainly there is a lot of football left in him.
"Marvin is slightly different. He has had a tough couple of years over at Bolton after going there for a big fee, but he’s a young man and when you have an awkward time that can teach you as much as anything about yourself."
Although both players now have several years of experience behind them, two moments may stand out for Burnley fans at the news.
One is Taylor's unforgettable 40-yard-volley for Porstmouth. The other... is another unforgettable 40-yard-volley from Taylor.
Although both wondergoals came some years ago now, the 32-year-old featured heavily for West Ham last term, making 20 Premier League appearances.
Sordell, meanwhile, spent last season on loan at Charlton Athletic, scoring eight times.
