PHOTO: Chelsea teen talent 'all smiles' as he signs new contract

Ruben Loftus-Cheek admitted on Instagram that he will be 'with the Blues for a bit longer'

18-year-old Loftus-Cheek delighted Chelsea fans this morning; posting a picture on Instagram by signing a new deal with Chelsea, but failed declare how long the new contract was for.

Last summer, the talented teenager caused a media stir after signing a Chelsea contract 'so lucrative it had to be sanctioned by Roman Abramovich'.

The player's old deal was thought to be worth more than £1.7million in wages, signing-on fees, loyalty payments and allowances and the two-and-a-half-year deal was thought to be the most expensive ever awarded to a homegrown junior player at the West London club.

In fact, former Queens Park Rangers manager Ian Holloway, commented: 'Making players millionaires at that age is morally and ethically wrong,' in a strong statement towards the youngster's deal.

Nevertheless, the picture on the starlet's Instagram has gone under the radar and none of the details of his new contract have been leaked to the press, which after last time is definitely good for the Blues.

The youngster, who is said to have a bright future at the club, is now at the age where other clubs will be interested in taking him on loan and offering him first-team football. Although, if Swift and Baker are loaned out then he could become the star of the Chelsea Under-21 development side next season.

If he does decide to stay around at the club, he could hope to get first-team playing time at the Bridge as emergency cover, although given the competition that would still be unlikely.

Regardless of his immediate future, Chelsea fans will no doubt be pleased the player tipped as a star for the future has decided to reiterate his commitment to the club with a new contract.
