It has been a tough time recently for Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend. He came into the 2013-14 season in great form. A loan spell at QPR had revitalised this talented, but often vacant, speed demon and Spurs gave him plenty of chances at the start of the season.
He then worked his way into the England squad and looked a shoe-in for the World Cup this summer.
But his low conversion rate and a change of manager saw his first-team football diminish. Then, when given a chance, he got injured - injuring his ankle and ruling himself out of the World Cup.
He then decided to sit and listen to the footballing opinion of Adrian Chiles on Copacabana Beach as part of the ITV commentary team for the World Cup.
But whilst in Brazil he began recuperating for the season ahead, training part-time with Fluminense to up his fitness levels before returning for pre-season at Hotspur Way this week.
Townsend, as you see, is certainly being put through his paces but he won't mind. After an up-and-down 2013-14 the talented winger knows he is the type of player Mauricio Pochettino loves.
If he can prove his fitness to the Argentine he could be a real success story for next season.
