'Lethal' Arsenal wonderkid is complete striker, I immediately saw he was the best - Ex-teammate

Joel Campbell has been praised by former Olympiakos teammate Boban Lazic.

Costa Rica in the World Cup quarter-finals is not a prospect even the most ardent fan of the country would have confidently predicted.

Yet after a wonderful tournament so far the Caribbean country are preparing for a knockout contest against Holland.

Arsenal youngster Joel Campbell has been an ever-present for Costa Rica, and a former teammate of his has warned the Dutch they cannot afford to give him space to do them damage.

Boban Lazic, a Bosnian footballer and colleague of Campbell at Olympiakos last year where the Costa Rican was on loan, spoke highly of the 22-year-old.

Lazic told Voetball International: "Campbell was the best player in the selection of Olympiakos Piraeus. I saw that from the first moment that I trained there.

"He holds the ball ball, has a good shot, a dangerous dribble and he's lethal in one-on-one situations. But in the air, he is very strong.

"He is a complete striker and therefore it is not surprising that he goes back to his original employer Arsenal."

Campbell impressed for Olympiakos last season, scoring 11 goals and providing 12 assists helping them win the Greek title.

Arsene Wenger has already confirmed he will head back to the club for pre-season, and bid to win a place in the first team.

First, Campbell has a date with Louis van Gaal's Dutch side. He has scored past one Manchester United manager already in 2014 in David Moyes during the Champions League, Lazic's quotes suggests he is highly capable of getting one over on another.
