Report - Manchester United 'monitoring' Alexis Sanchez situation

Alexis Sanchez Chile

Arsenal and Liverpool have emerged as the two likely destinations for Sanchez, but Manchester United may have their say.

Manchester United are said to be the latest Premier League side monitoring the situation involving Barcelona's Alexis Sanchez according to the Manchester Evening News.

Sanchez seems to be on the way out of the Nou Camp after three seasons at the La Liga giants, during that time he has won both the La Liga title and Copa Del Rey.

He has been linked heavily with a move to the Premier League with Arsenal and Liverpool said to be leading the way.

The Chilean star has been linked with a move to Anfield as part of the deal that will take Luis Suarez to the Nou Camp, whilst Arsenal have reportedly made an offer of £22 million.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is said to be an admirer of the player as he looks to strengthen the United squad this summer, with the report saying he would like to add width and pace to his attack - and the club have shown so far this window that they aren't afraid to splash the cash.

It would seem that Arsenal are the favourites to sign the player, as it has been mooted there has been some kind of agreement from him to end up at the Emirates Stadium, though there are other reports saying the Chilean is still considering his options.

United would seemingly be the outsiders in the race for Sanchez, as it looks highly unlikely the player will be at the Nou Camp. Given the discussions that both Arsenal and Liverpool are seemingly having with the Spanish club, and perhaps the player's representatives, United would have to move quickly if they wanted to firm up their interest with a chance of bringing the 25-year-old to Old Trafford.
