France player ratings v Germany: Les Bleus give poor performance

France will be disappointed with the way the played in a 1-0 loss to Germany which saw them leave the World Cup.

Hugo Lloris 6 - The normally great keeper sweeper, had a very nervous game and didn’t look solid when coming for set pieces.

Mathieu Debuchy 5 - Just seemed to get fouled the whole game but not because he was doing anything special. Poor game.

Raphaël Varane 6 - Should have done better for Mats Hummels' goal but had a decent game otherwise.

Mamadou Sakho 4 - Looked totally sloppy and wasn’t a surprise to him subbed before he totally lost the game for France altogether.

Patrice Evra 6 - Got forward well, caused a few problems and won a few free-kicks but never delivered anything threatening like he so often does for Manchester United.

Mathieu Valbuena 7 - France’s only promising player, gave the Germany defence a lot to worry about, but faded during the game. Probably due to him being one of the only players that really looked like he was giving it his all.

Paul Pogba 6 - Showed he has the quality but just couldn’t harness it to France’s advantage. Was marked out the game well.

Yohan Cabaye 5 - Barely had any influence on the game. Every time he got on the ball he looked like he could have done real damage, but just never did anything.

Blaise Matuidi 5 - Really expected more of this man, never delivered in midfield and his distribution was especially poor.

Antoine Griezmann 6 - Crying at the end suggesting he tried his best, but that really didn’t reflect through into his performance.

Karim Benzema 6 - If you’re to call the Real Madrid striker world class, then he really should have scored tonight. In a game of few chances he had enough to get at least one goal.
