Confirmed: France line-up for Germany clash – No place for Arsenal’s Giroud

Didier Deschamps

Here is how France will line up against Germany at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro, including former Manchester United youngster and current Tottenham Hotspur star.

France will be determined to maintain their good run of form and progress to the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup finals at the expense of Germany.

Didier Deschamps’ side won Group E with seven points from three matches, registering a massive 5-2 victory over Switzerland in the process.

In the round of 16, Les Bleus got the better of Nigeria 2-0 at the Estadio Nacional Mane Garrincha in Brasília in front of almost 70,000 spectators.

Today, France will have to defeat fellow European giants Germany to secure their place in the last four of the tournament.

The 1998 World Cup winners struggled to make it to Brazil, but since the finals commenced last month, they have gone from strength to strength.

An appearance in the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup will perhaps be considered a surprise by many, although getting past a very talented and strong German team will not be easy.

The match will be held at the famous Maracana in Rio de Janeiro.
