Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle has said that he hopes to be in the starting line-up for Germany’s clash against France in the World Cup quarter-finals on Friday.

The 23-year-old former Bayer Leverkusen star was in impressive form for Die Mannschaft in their 2-1 extra-time victory over Algeria in the last 16.

‘I feel much better as a starter and everyone wants to be on the pitch at the kickoff’, The Glasgow Evening Times quotes him as saying. ‘I'd be delighted to have the chance to start tonight.

‘I'm really fired up. I feel good, I feel in form and I'm really glad I finally got the chance to play more in the last match’.

Meanwhile, the Daily Star cites French reports claiming that France international defender Eliaquim Mangala wants to move to Chelsea.

Manchester City and Porto have reportedly settled on a £32 million transfer fee for the 23-year-old centre-back to join the Premier League champions this summer.

However, it has been reported that the former Standard Liege star is holding out for a move to Chelsea.

Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos.

The Germany international has long been reported to be on his way out of the Allianz Arena, with Manchester United and Real Madrid said to be keen on signing the 24-year-old.

The Metro has now cited reports in Spain claiming that Chelsea have made a late move in order to convince Kroos to switch to Stamford Bridge just when it appeared that he is set to join Madrid.
