Transfer Clock: 59 days until the transfer window closes, here are the big stories you need to know...
Arsenal linked with four transfers
As the transfer window progresses, Arsenal are said to be preparing to make their first moves by a variety of sources which claim deals are close. The first is regarding striker Loic Remy, with The Mail reporting Arsenal are confident of snapping up the QPR forward for a bargain £8 million via a clause in his contract.
The Telegraph report Arsenal have agreed a deal for Alexis Sanchez in principle with the player, but have yet to meet Barcelona's £25 million asking price. Barcelona are however keen to shift him towards Liverpool to speed up their own transfer of Luis Suarez.
The Mirror also report the Sanchez developments, and re-affirm that the Gunners are confident a deal for Mathieu Debuchy will be completed. He will cost in the region of £12 million, but like Remy, France's World Cup involvement is delaying a deal.
The Metro report today also that Arsenal have submitted a £24 million offer for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira. The German is also on international duty still, and is a former teammate of Mesut Ozil's at Real Madrid. The Spanish club are keen to move him on this summer, but Manchester United are also interested.
All four deals in total would cost the Gunners almost £70 million, but would answer major positions of need in the squad. Sanchez and Remy will boost the club's strike force, Remy adding pace and Sanchez guile, with the former offering Premier League experience. Sanchez's versatility in attack makes him a good fit for Arsene Wenger's system.
Sami Khedira can be the holding player Arsenal have desired, bringing experience of La Liga and Bundesliga football. With German international teammates Podolski, Ozil and Mertesacker, he would surely settle instantly at the Gunners.
Debuchy meanwhile would slot in for the departed Bacary Sagna, who he has been preferred to an international level with France at the World Cup. The spree would still leave Arsenal with £30 million of their speculated budget to spend on a goalkeeper to back-up Wojciech Szczesny, and further defensive reinforcements.
Di Maria to United?
Manchester United are the latest club to be linked with a deal for Argentine winger Angel di Maria. The Real Madrid ace is keen to move on from the Bernabeu this summer, and has previously been linked to Monaco and Arsenal. The Gunners are however focusing on other targets and a deal to Monaco could fall through after the Ligue 1 side confirmed they have no desire to sell James Rodriguez or Radamel Falcao to Real Madrid.
Spanish newspaper El Confidencial reveal that the Red Devils are showing an interest in Di Maria, who has instructed his powerful agent Jorge Mendes to secure him a deal. Real Madrid want £42 million for his signature, a fee United could afford - if they really have the desire to sign him as suggested.
Zuculini to City?
Manchester City are poised to sign an Argentine of their own, report the Manchester Evening News. Defensive midfielder Bruno Zuculini is to secure a transfer from Racing Club in Argentina for £1.5 million. Zuculini is an Argentine youth international and is 21-years-old.
The paper suggest however he will not wear City colours next season, likely to be loaned to Spain, with Villareal and Deportivo La Coruna among the sides interested.
Lovren bid rejected
Liverpool have made an offer of £20 million for Southampton defender Dejan Lovren, report the Liverpool Echo. Despite the bid being £12 million more than the price the Saints paid for him last summer, the paper state that it has not been accepted.
Liverpool have already paid Southampton £27 million combined for Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert, although 25 per cent of the Lallana fee has gone to his former club Bournemouth. The south coast club are playing hardball with regard to the centre-back, demanding above Liverpool's bid.
Croatian defender Lovren is claimed to have handed in a transfer request, and the Echo report he could even go on strike in order to force a move.
