Goal.com claims Arsene Wenger will look to charm Alexis Sanchez’s representatives to give Arsenal the edge in the race to sign the Chilean star.
Arsenal and Liverpool are thought to be the two Premier League clubs closest to doing deals for the Barcelona star, with Wenger reportedly keen to give his side an advantage.
That eagerness will apparently lead him to oversee certain aspects of the negotiation process personally, as the Frenchman tries to take advantage of the fact he’s been in Brazil doing television work.
“Arsenal have tabled a £32 million bid for Alexis Sanchez as Arsene Wenger prepares a charm offensive to land the Chile World Cup star ahead of rivals Liverpool,” reports Goal.
“The Gunners boss will meet Sanchez's agent in Brazil this week to convince the forward that he should move to the Londoners ahead of the other clubs competing for his signature.”
Wenger is certainly one of the best in the business in terms of man management and convincing new signings to join what he’s trying to achieve at the Emirates Stadium.
Some questioned Mesut Ozil’s big money move to Arsenal last summer but the German revealed that a large part of his decision to join the club was based around Wenger.
Wenger called Ozil personally, speaking in German, to convince the player that he was making the right decision with a move to North London over staying at Real Madrid.
In short, he’s a persuasive figure and will look to use that to try and reach an agreement, with Alexis’ representatives at least, over the Chilean committing to an Emirates Stadium move.
Liverpool certainly aren’t out of the picture and they will be aided by a large cash injection should Luis Suarez complete his move to Barcelona, but Wenger could be the difference if Alexis already has one eye on the Premier League.
