Here's the possible Manchester United side for next season based on current players and potential signings.
Manchester United have been one of the busiest sides in the transfer market, with the club making two great signings in Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw before Louis van Gaal has even sat in his Old Trafford office.
United aren’t finished there and continue to be linked with several more players who could come in and help the team fight their way back to the top of the Premier League next season.
We’ve attempted to predict the Manchester United side for next season.
GK – David De Gea
One of the only players in the current squad who can look at last season and be happy with his consistency.
RB – Daryl Janmaat
If LvG wants to invest in a new right-back, there’s every chance that Janmaat could be the man. He’s got everything a modern full-back needs.
CB – Mats Hummels
The Metro has reignited United’s apparent interest in the German with talk of a £20 million bid. He’d be a great addition to the back four.
CB – Thomas Vermaelen
The Belgian looks more likely to make a United move, with Arsenal holding out for a fee of closer to the £12 million mark, double what United are thought to have offered.
LB – Luke Shaw
Shaw is likely to be given the chance to hit the ground running following a massive move from Southampton. He’s an exciting prospect.
RM – Antonio Valencia
LvG showed his hand over Valencia when he signed a new deal to stay at the club. He’s got pace, he works hard and is a good option for the club on the right.
CM – Michael Carrick
Carrick is the sort of player who can control a game in front of his own back four. He’s superb at reading the play.
CM – Ander Herrera
Herrera can play slightly deeper in the side and pull the midfield strings or he can nudge further forward, in behind the main striker.
AM – Juan Mata
Mata is a great option for United to have at number ten. He can feed the main striker all day long and gets into good goalscoring positions himself.
LM – Juan Cuadrado
The Colombian Fiorentina star is thought to be the subject of interest to LvG though he is likely to cost over £30 million. He’s looked dangerous throughout the World Cup.
ST – Robin Van Persie
RVP has been LvG’s main man in the Netherlands’ World Cup attack. If he’s fit then he should start, which may see Wayne Rooney start the season as a sub.
