We take a look at the top five transfer stories surrounding Football League clubs in the last 24-hours.
Leeds United target former Reading and Arsenal keeper Stuart Taylor
According to the Daily Mail, Leeds United are in talks with former Arsenal, Manchester City and Aston Villa goalkeeper Stuart Taylor following his release from Reading this summer.
The 33-year-old, who has only made 72 league appearances in a 17-year career, is a goalkeeper that is used to the life of a back-up goalkeeper and could offer Massimo Cellino’s Leeds an experienced back-up that has played at some of the country’s top clubs.
Leeds United are expected to make wholesale changes to their squad this summer and are reportedly in for two goalkeepers, following the announcement Paddy Kenny is free to leave Elland Road this summer.
According to Sky Sports, Derby County and Nottingham Forest are reportedly in the race with West Bromwich Albion and Burnley for Reading winger Gareth McCleary.
McCleary, who only has a year left on his current contract, won’t have a decision made on his future at Reading until a takeover is sorted, but a number of clubs are said to be tracking the explosive Royals winger.
Nottingham Forest, McCleary’s former team, could face competition from East Midland rivals Derby County for his signature if he does in fact become available.
Fulham in McCormack talks
According to Sky Sports, Fulham are holding talks with Leeds United striker Ross McCormack over a possible move this summer.
Leeds reportedly rejected a bid from Fulham last month, but after announcing his intentions to leave the Yorkshire club the Cottagers appear to be edging closer to a deal. Although, the report does claim negotiations are still on going and a fee is yet to be agreed for Ross McCormack.
Norwich City, Derby County and West Ham have also been linked with the 27-year-old after he scored 28 goals for Leeds last season.
Sunderland look to tie up early deals for Cardiff’s Jordan Mutch
According to the Daily Mail, Sunderland have made further enquiries about Cardiff’s Jordan Mutch and hope to agree terms with Fiorentina for Marcos Alonso despite West Ham interest.
Mutch, 22, was Cardiff City’s top goalscorer last season and had reportedly been the subject of a £1.5million bid from Sunderland last month, but Cardiff dismissed those claims as rumours.
The former Birmingham City midfielder won a lot of plaudits last season and Sunderland will be eager to land the Cardiff City midfielder before other teams become interested.
Ipswich Town sign Cameron Stewart
Ipswich Town have competed the signing of Cameron Stewart on a three-year deal after his move to Leeds United fell through.
''We are making progress as a football club and the challenge now is to continue that next season and hopefully get into that top six. That's the target,'' he told the club website.
Stewart, who started his career at Manchester United, will hopefully be able to put the dire loan spell at Leeds United behind him and push on.
