Ronaldinho reaches out to top Arsenal star on Twitter

Lukas Podolski Germany

Brazilian hero Ronaldinho has responded to a gesture from popular Arsenal star Lukas Podolski.

The larger than life character of Lukas Podolski seems to win friends wherever he goes, and while at the World Cup in Brazil he has made a very high profile one.

He can now count Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldinho among his well-wishers, after the 2002 and 2006 Brazil World Cup star reached out to him on Twitter to wish him luck.

Ronaldinho sent him a message yesterday afternoon, which translated as: "I hope that the Cup is an amazing experience in your life my friend!"

Was this out of the blue? Not really. Ronaldinho had simply taken notice of, or been alerted to kind comments from Podolski himself about him over the weekend.

Arsenal forward Podolski had trained at Gremio football club's stadium the Arena do Gremio ahead of their second round match with Algeria in Porto Alegre and stated he was honoured to get a chance to visit it.

He posted on his social media pages: "Glad to have met the club who designed one of the greatest players the ball 10Ronaldinho #Gremio Brazil #phenols"

Days later, but better late than never, he has his acknowledgement of thanks for his kind words from the player himself, and a good luck message to go with it.

He will hope he and his Germany side have as much success at Ronaldinho's Brazil did in winning the tournament in 2002 - but first they must get past France, and his clubmate Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud.
