Arsenal have reportedly made the first move in the race to sign Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona. The Chilean has been linked with a move to play for Brendan Rodgers, but reports suggest that the Gunners have opened proceedings with a €25 million offer for the player.

Barcelona have reportedly opened talks with Liverpool over a deal for striker Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan’s future at Anfield is up in the air after FIFA handed him a four month ban, which means he won’t feature for a good chunk of the new Premier League season. He’s rated at the £80 million mark.

The Reds have been linked with a potential swoop for AC Milan star Mario Balotelli, with the Mirror claiming he’s a potential replacement for Luis Suarez. The Italian has been linked with a move to the Gunners this summer, but Brendan Rodgers could urge the club to go after the ex-Man City star if he feels his temperament isn’t going to be a problem.

New Liverpool signing Adam Lallana took out a full page ad in a local Southampton newspaper to wish Saints fans a happy goodbye. The England international has completed a £25 million switch to Anfield and thanked fans with a personal message in the Daily Echo.

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has piled praise onto the club for signing Lallana, suggesting he’s the perfect player to help the side move forward and progress.

“I think he's a brilliant player - and I'm not just saying that because he's a Liverpool player now. I enjoyed watching him last year at Southampton. I think he's got the ability to change tight games. He's both footed and can play anywhere along the midfield or the front,” he told Liverpool’s website.

TalkSPORT claims Serie A side Roma are ready to rival Liverpool in the race for Benfica star Lazar Markovic. TS points to sources in Italy, which have suggested that Roma’s sporting director Walter Sabatini is looking into the possibility of a deal for the player.

Fabio Borini has revealed his intense fitness regime ahead of the new season. The Italian striker posted a picture of himself doing hill sprints up a steep slope in 30 degree heat. Borini’s agent recently said he’d be staying at Anfield ahead of the new campaign.
