Reports claim West Ham United are close to a new summer signing, so what do fans need to know about him?

Recent reports have claimed West Ham United are on the verge of signing Timothee Kolodziejczak from Nice. It is being claimed the player will shortly complete a medical prior to moving to the Hammers, so assuming the latest stories are true, what do West Ham fans need to know about him?

Here are five facts to get you started:

1) Born in France in 1991, Kolodziejczak started his youth career at Saint-Maurice Loos, and went on to play at the same level for Avian, Lens and Lyon.

2) He began his senior career at Lyon in 2009, before moving to Nice on a free transfer three years later.

3) The left-back made just 14 senior appearances for Lyon, but has flourished since moving on, making 82 appearances for Nice during which time he has scored four goals and set up a further six.

4) Kolodziejczak, who is also able to play as a centre-back when required, has featured for France at every level from under-16 to under-20, racking up a total of 48 appearances in total across the range of age-groups.

5) The player’s disciplinary record is impressive, and has seen him sent off just once in 96 games. He has also collected just 17 bookings in that time. Not bad for a player who is still learning the game at just 22.
