Arsenal's reported 'done deal' with Newcastle United for Mathieu Debuchy appears to be far from that - with reports this morning suggesting the two sides still have a little way to go before anything can be signed off.
The French international currently keeps former Arsenal right-back Bacary Sagna out of Les Bleus starting XI - so would be the perfect replacement for their departing stalwart, who joined Manchester City on a free transfer.
A deal in the region of £12 million had been mooted for the player - however it is now believed Newcastle United have not accepted an approach from The Gunners for the former Lille man.
Instead it is believed the two clubs have been 'in contact' but any deal is far from being done.
Debuchy made his desire to play Champions League football next season very clear in an interview last month.
Arsenal are throwing the spanners in the works for Liverpool's hope of signing Alexis Sanchez - as the Chilean would reportedly prefer a move to North London over Anfield.
It is believed that Sanchez could be used as a makeweight in a deal to bring Luis Suarez to the Nou Camp - an inclusion that would no doubt soften the blow for The Reds if the Uruguayan departs.
However, he reportedly wants a move to London and Arsenal are believed to have tabled their first offer for the player this morning.
Finally, and Arsenal have been preparing their Emirates Stadium for the upcoming season - including the removal of the Nike advertising, as they enter a new era of sponsorship under Puma.
"This is an exciting day for us and marks the start of a new era. As we expected when we signed the partnership, Puma have come up with some truly innovative and creative ideas and we are looking forward to unveiling the new kit which I am sure will be a big hit with our supporters around the world."
