Three more players Manchester City should sign this summer

The transfer window is officially open, so we are looking at three more potential signings that could spur Manchester City on to their third Premier League title.

Willy Caballero (Malaga)

The Malaga goalkeeper has often been regarded as one of the best shot-stoppers in La Liga and he would be an ideal replacement for the now departed Costel Pantilimon.

The competition for the number one jersey that the Argentine would bring will do Joe Hart the world of good. Manchester City's current number one had a difficult time of it in the earlier stages of last season; Hart was dropped last October after a string of mistakes and poor performances, meaning the champions had to rely on number two, Pantilimon, to keep goal.

A move to Manchester might not be too far off the mark either as reports are suggesting a £7million deal for the 32-year-old could be in the offing. City boss Pellegrini is understood to be a great admirer of Cabellero, who he coached during his three-year spell at Malaga between 2010-2013.

Mehdi Benatia (Roma)

The Moroccan centre-back had an unbelievable debut year for Roma leading them to second place in the Serie A last season. His defensive prowess and ability to notch a few goals has attracted potential suitors all across Europe.

Should City make a move, Benatia could be the ideal partner for captain Vincent Kompany, after the Citizens' back-four had a difficult time of it last season. An injury to Serbian youngster Matija Nastasic limited him to only 13 appearances all season, so City brought in Martin Demichelis, who struggled at times and was not always a popular choice at the heart of the City defence.

A deal for Benatia would certainly not be easy with Roma reluctant to lose the 27-year-old after just one season at the club. Although yesterday the Daily Mirror were claiming a £30million deal could be struck if Roma were able to find a suitable replacement, considering they will be competing in the Champions League too next season.

Alexis Sanchez (Barcelona)

The Barcelona winger's uncertain situation in Spain has lead to considerable rumour and speculation about where his future will lie. His 19 La Liga goals for the Catalonian side last season paired with his stunning display at the World Cup for Chile has meant that clubs in England and Italy are currently queuing up for his signature.

It is his versatility that makes Sanchez an ideal signing for City this summer, as well as being very capable on either wing; he can also do a job as a centre forward as he has shown with his performances for Barca and Chile. Sanchez would give City more pace on the flanks and could play as a forward should Aguero get injured, as is quite common.

Like any possible deal for Benatia, Sanchez would also be a tough signing with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Juventus all reportedly vying for his signature. However City do appear to be interested as Goal claims they have asked Barcelona to keep them in the loop regarding the Chilean's situation.
