Report: Angel Di Maria has asked to leave Real Madrid

Arsenal and Manchester United target Angel Di Maria wants to leave Real Madrid reports claim.

According to the Spanish newspaper AS, Real Madrid star Angel Di Maria has asked to leave the club this summer.

It has been suggested that the Argentine star feels undervalued at the Santiago Bernabeu, and he recently told reporters that his future in the Spanish capital remains uncertain.

"Di Maria wants to leave Real Madrid. He feels that he is a player who still isn't valued and he has asked to be transfered," reports AS.

Manchester United and Arsenal have both been linked in recent weeks, though should the Premier League pair wish to buy the exciting midfielder, the reported price is set at €50 million.

For United, it represents an excellent opportunity to bring in one of the world’s best players who would undeniably thrive under the renowned club philosophy of fast, direct wing-play.

Former player and now successful pundit Gary Neville marvelled at Angel Di Maria’s fabulous wing-play during Spain’s El Clasico in March, and later hinted that the player would be perfect for The Red Devils’ style of football.

With Louis Van Gaal heavily backed in the transfer market and still on the lookout for a new winger this summer, the 62-year-old would certainly struggle to find a better one currently at the top of his game.

The Dutch coach, however, is sure to have competition for his signature with one of those coming from Premier League rivals Arsenal.

The Gunners have long been linked with the 26-year-old, and following his remarkable season where he contributed up to 37 goals by means of goals and assists, he would certainly be classed as a special-case signing similar to German international Mesut Ozil.

Arsene Wenger is currently out in Brazil on World Cup duty, seemingly keeping his cards close to his chest over potential summer signings.

Known to be a late mover in the market, if the Frenchman’s interest is sincere, then he will have to change tact and start making advances as players with the calibre of Di Maria simply don’t stay available for long.

The report also mentions that Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are amongst other potential targets and Colombia’s World Cup sensation James Rodriguez has been listed as a possible replacement.
