Juventus seem to have missed their opportunity to sign Patrice Evra, but the latest reports suggest that the Old Lady may try for an unlikely swoop.
Evra looked set to quit Manchester United when his contract expired at the end of last season and Juventus were on the brink of picking him up as a free agent.
However, the Bianconeri were distracted by uncertainty over the future of coach Antonio Conte and by the time they mounted their attempt to lure Evra, the defender had signed an extension at Old Trafford.
It is suggested that the Serie A champions will ask Evra to liberate himself from his contract at Manchester United and are preparing a lucrative, longer-term deal of their own.
Juventus are in the process of streamlining their squad this summer to allow them to bring in some reinforcements for the new season.
There's no doubt that Antonio Conte's priority for the new season is to win the Champions League after he reacted angrily to detractors who labelled last term a failure despite his Scudetto success.
Conte will look to add players with substantial experience at the highest level in Europe and may see Evra as an opportunity that slipped away unless a deal can be agreed.
