According to Tuttosport, any chance Arsenal or Manchester United had of recruiting Chile's World Cup star Arturo Vidal or Liverpool had in securing the services of Xherdan Shaqiri, is now minimal as Bayern Munich and Juventus may engage in a high-profile player-swap deal involving both Premier League targets.
The Italian publication claim that the Serie A's Old Lady could not only benefit from Switzerland attacker Shaqiri, dubbed the 'Lionel Messi of the Alps', but also stand to receive €40 million (£32 million) on top, providing they allow Vidal to join the Bundesliga heavyweights.
Such a deal could prove too tempting for Juve, regardless of Vidal's alleged preference to sign for the Old Trafford club if he ever were to leave Turin.
With Chile out of the World Cup, after a dramatic penalty shoot-out loss to host nation Brazil, Vidal recently said: "I will go on a little holiday. I need to relax with the family, so I can come back stronger than before."
Vidal has a market valuation of £38 million, but his performances for Chile may have seen his price-tag rise considerably. He is contractually-bound to Juventus for another three years.
