Preview & injury news

Despite winning their group, Belgium will be slightly disappointed with the way they have played. They haven’t looked entirely convincing coming from behind once and scraping two 1-0 wins.

The USA have played some superb football, winning against Ghana and unlucky to draw against Portugal. There seems to be a bit of a buzz surrounding the American side and for good reason - they have played exceptional football.

Having already played against Germany, the USA will know what it takes to beat a good team and Belgium’s defence is one of their best assets. This will be an entertaining game.

Key stats

1) Daniel Van Buyten can become sixth in Belgium’s all-time most capped player list - he currently has 81 international games to his name.

2) Clint Dempsey is currently second in the all-time top-scorers' list for the USA with 39 goals in 108 caps, 18 behind Landon Donovan.

3) DaMarcus Beasley is fifth in the USA’s all-time most capped list with with 119 caps, nine behind fourt- placed Marcelo Balboa.

Five players to watch

Eden Hazard - Has been unlucky so far on this campaign as opposing teams have done their best to mark him out of the game. When the Chelsea winger has got the ball, however, he has looked a real threat. Will need to make sure Belgium can get the ball to him as often as possible.

Clint Dempsey - In the form of his life right now, causing real trouble and threatens every time he goes forward. His individual goal against Ghana is an example of what he carries round in that impressive portfolio of his.

Dries Mertens - Having a very impressive World Cup so far, making left-backs' time on the pitch difficult when he runs at them.

Jermaine Jones - His cracking goal against Portugal is still being talked about and everyone is waiting for him to produce more of the same.

Divock Origi - Possibly the most impressive of all the young players at the World Cup. Whether he comes off the bench or starts, he seems to lift the whole Belgium side.
