Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will be looking to strengthen his squad this summer having won the FA Cup final against Hull City, and a new centre forward will no doubt be on the wishlist for the Gunners. Frenchman Olivier Giroud struggled to carry the workload for the whole season, and one of the names linked with a move to North London is Porto's Colombian hitman Jackson Martinez. The 27-year-old has hit a stunning 60 goals in just 91 games for the Portuguese club, and admits that he's an Arsenal fan - and would accept a move to the club.
"I know that there have been discussions, but still no agreements. My agent is taking care of my future, right now I’m at the World Cup and only after the World Cup I’ll evaluate proposals. As a child I cheered for Arsenal, they play a game that suits me. If I had the occasion to play there, I would say yes," said Martinez.
Having seen Lukasz Fabianski and Emiliano Viviano leave the club this summer, Wenger must also seek another goalkeeper to compete with first choice Wojciech Szczesny. The latest name linked with a move to the club is Levante shot stopper Keylor Navas. The 27-year-old has been one of the stars of the World Cup having been a key part of the Costa Rica side which has now made it to the last eight of the tournament.
There is reportedly a £6.5m release clause in Navas' contract, and that has attracted interest from a number of teams this summer.
Whilst there are names linked with arriving in North London, there will no doubt be players heading out of the Emirates Stadium this summer. One of those was expected to be Belgian Thomas Vermaelen, with Premier League rivals Manchester United aiming to wrap up an £11m deal to sign him - but new reports suggest that Gunners boss Wenger is stalling the deal until he has a replacement lined up for the former Ajax man.
