Algeria player ratings v Germany: Fennec Foxes play well in defeat

Despite losing 2-1 in extra time after the game being 0-0 after 90 minutes, Algeria played really well against tournament favourites Germany.

Raïs M’Bolhi 8 - Pulled out some brilliant stops, especially his save from Toni Kroos’ shot.

Aïssa Mandi 6 - Tackled well when under attack but once he retained the ball he often gave it away as his distribution was poor.

Essaïd Belkalem 6 - Made a vital goal line clearance, but that was the best bit about his game.

Rafik Halliche 8 - Played his heart out in that Algerian defence, and suffered cramp at the end as a result. Can go away with a proud performance.

Faouzi Ghoulam 7 - One of Algeria’s better performers against Germany, and often the starter of Algeria’s quick counter attacks.

Medhi Lacen 8 - Played really well in front of the back four, won most aerial duels and was an excellent anchor for their team.

Mehdi Mostefa-Sbaa 6 - Played alongside Lacen but not to quite the same effect, could have scored a goal.

Sofiane Feghouli 6 - Produced that wonder ball for Abdelmoumene Djabou’s goal and got down the wing often as an extra outlay of attack.

El Arabi Soudani 6 - Helped out in attack when he could, but otherwise didn’t provide any special moments.

Saphir Taïder 6 - Marked well throughout the game, but as a result spent more time off the bar doing work then on it.

Islam Slimani 7 - Really unlucky to not get a goal tonight, didn’t stop trying until the end to get it.

Yacine Brahimi 6 - Looked really menacing when came on, if he had come on slightly earlier things may well have been different.

Madjid Bougherra 6 - Could have really scored, the ball fell to him kindly in the box but he pulled his shot wide.

Abdelmoumene Djabou 7 - Scorer of Algeria’s goal and a fine finish it was too, other than that didn’t have a whole lot of game time.
