A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United…
Manchester United could be offered the chance to sign Arda Turan according to reports.
The Express claims Atletico Madrid are prepared to let the midfielder leave in order to fund a move for Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla.
Turan was reportedly on the verge of joining United last summer, only for David Moyes to instead opt for Marouane Fellaini. But whether that claim is true or not, it appears United have a second chance to bring the 27-year-old winger-cum-attacking midfielder to Old Trafford.
The report even claims Atletico may be prepared to accept considerably less than Turan’s £33million release-clause.
In other news, the Manchester Evening News claims a new centre-back could be next on Louis van Gaal’s radar.
Having signed Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw in recent days, the club’s transfer business is in full swing. But following the departures of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, it is clear that at least one new experienced centre-back is required despite the presence of three younger stars in the shape of Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.
The likes of Miranda, Stefan de Vrij and Mats Hummels have been most recently linked, but it will be interesting to see who van Gaal ultimately makes his move for in the weeks ahead.
