Manchester City latest: Aguero steps up recovery, Sanchez links and new role for midfielder?

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Manchester City have asked to be kept informed of Alexis Sanchez’s situation according to a report.

Goal claims the Blues are monitoring the Chilean, along with a whole host of other clubs, with Manuel Pellegrini’s side allegedly asking Barcelona to keep them informed should anything happen regarding his future.

Despite recently being punished for breaching FFP rules, City are said to be considering a big-money move for the mercurial Chilean.

In other news, Sergio Aguero is stepping up his recovery in the hope of being fit for the latter stages of Argentina’s World Cup campaign.

ESPN reports that while Aguero is currently out with a thigh injury, he is working hard in an attempt to get back into contention should his country overcome Switzerland in tomorrow’s match.

And finally, the Manchester Evening News has published an interesting editorial that questions whether Fernandinho’s recent form for Brazil could be a sign of things to come for his club side.

The player arrived at the Etihad with the reputation of being a goal-scorer, and yet he played a far more defensive-minded role in his debut season at the Etihad.

But it is now being suggested that the freer role he has for his country could be replicated under Manuel Pellegrini.
