Liverpool's spending spree continues with Adam Lallana, and several big names continue to be linked.
Perhaps haunted by unsuccessfully leaving it late two summers ago, Liverpool have once again acted early in the transfer market this summer.
Rickie Lambert, Emre Can, have sealed deals and now Adam Lallana's switch is almost complete, to join the club and strengthen their Champions League push next season as they aim to replicate last year's Premier League challenge.
Their spending may not be done either, for there are four players who the club remain linked with, who could follow Lallana into Anfield as the transfer window officially opens.
Here is a look at the four top players who are candidates to be next on the club's shopping list:
Alexis Sanchez - €40m
The biggest name on the list, Chile's World Cup star man Alexis Sanchez remains linked with a Premier League switch. Barcelona are reportedly open to bids, report Marca, although the attacker is keen to fight for his place at the Nou Camp. Arsenal, Manchester United and Juventus have also been linked with the versatile forward. His name has also been put forward as part of a potential cash plus player swap deal for Barcelona to sign Luis Suarez, but the possibility of Liverpool attempting to sign him outright cannot be ruled out either.
Lazar Markovic - €30m
Benfica attacker Lazar Markovic remains on the club's radar, after an impressive first season in the Primeira Liga since joining from Partizan Belgrade last summer. The Express reported at the end of last week that the Serbian winger is at the top of the club's wanted list. Markovic has a release clause of €30 million in his contract, but Chelsea's long-term admiration of the 20-year-old could threaten any potential deal.
Xherdan Shaqiri - €20m
Bayern Munich's Xherdan Shaqiri is a star frequently linked to Anfield, who showed his class with a World Cup hat-trick for Switzerland over Honduras. It would surely be a straight choice between Shaqiri or Markovic with the Reds unlikely to buy both. The Star report that Liverpool are very keen on the 22-year-old despite adding Adam Lallana to the squad.
Divock Origi - €10m
Divock Origi is emerging as one of the stars of the World Cup outperforming last season's Everton loanee Romelu Lukaku for Belgium. Liverpool are claimed to be in talks with Lille over signing the striker, but have not settled on his price yet. A strong performance against USA in the round of 16 could further push up his value. Origi's arrival would however be bad news for Fabio Borini, who impressed on loan at Sunderland last season and is hoping to make an impact back at Liverpool next season. However the Independent suggest Liverpool could agree to loan Origi back to Lille for the season.
