Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has hailed Bayern Munich star Toni Kroos, revealing that he would love to see the German international at Old Trafford.
Writing on his Paddy Power blog, Scholes said, “I love watching Toni Kroos. I think he’s brilliant.
“I just wish Manchester United had signed him. Yes, it is good to see United bringing in new players, but they haven’t signed anything like the quality of Kroos.”
But the stats paint a slightly different picture, with new signing Ander Herrera impressing when compared with Kroos.
The Bayern man scored just two league goals and provided four assists last season; in comparison Herrera scored five and set up five in La Liga for Athletic Bilbao.
In terms of pass-completion rates, Kroos averaged 91.9% (an outstanding return) in the Bundesliga last season, averaging 1.8 shots per league match and making on average 1.4 key passes in Germany’s top-flight.
In La Liga, Herrera averaged just 80.6% pass-completion, although he did outdo Kroos with an average of 2.1 shots per league match and playing an average of 1.6 key passes per game.

Kroos is nothing short of a pass-master, but Herrera proved last season that he has what it takes to shine at Old Trafford. And while Scholes may wish it had been the German international who had headed to United this summer, the stats suggest the club's fans are in for a treat when the young Spaniard takes to the field.
