Serie A transfer latest: Swansea star nearing Napoli move, Bayern increasing Vidal bid?

All the latest summer transfer news from Serie A...

Speculation continues to surround the future of Swansea City striker Michu. The Spaniard was one of the revelations of the 2012/13 Premier League season, but struggled with form and fitness in the 2013/14 season, leaving his future in South Wales in doubt.

It now seems that his compatriot Rafael Benitez is intent on bringing him to Italy with Napoli. Reports this weekend had suggested that the 28-year-old had taken a medical with the club, but whilst that wasn't true, they have asked for more information about his injury status - suggesting that a deal could be moving closer.

One of the biggest rumours of the weekend came as Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich had reportedly increased their offer for Juventus' Chilean international Arturo Vidal. The 27-year-old has already starred in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen, and he's gone from strength to strength in his career, to the point where he's now considered as one of the top midfielders in the world.

Pep Guardiola's men are now believed to have submitted a €40m to the Serie A side in a bid to bring Vidal back to the Bundesliga, but they are still some way short of Juventus' reported €60m asking price.

And finally, it seems Fiorentina are poised to make an addition to their defence with the signing of Jose Maria Basanta. The Monterrey centre back, 30, is currently in Brazil as part of Argentina's squad, but has taken to Twitter to confirm that a move to Florence is close.

"I want to clarify that nothing is yet confirmed for my move to Fiorentina, but I thank people for their support," wrote Basanta. "I have a contract until 2015 with Monterrey, but am in negotiations over the idea of moving to Europe and becoming part of the Italian club Fiorentina."
