Liverpool transfer news: Reds linked with £110m summer spending spree; more Sterling rumours

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Liverpool

The Telegraph claims Liverpool have either secured or are monitoring talent worth a total of £110million.

Following the arrival of Rickie Lambert, his Southampton teammate Adam Lallana is said to be closing in on a £23million move to Anfield.

But the shopping spree at St Mary’s may not stop there, with the report claiming Liverpool also want Dejan Lovren, who will cost in excess of £15million.

Emre Can has also already been secured for a £10million, while Divock Origi and Lazar Markovic have also been linked with possible moves to Anfield.

But the icing on the cake would be Alexis Sanchez, who the Telegraph claims could be a possibility and who has shone for Chile at this summer’s World Cup.

It seems like being a busy summer at Anfield, but if Brendan Rodgers does go on to spend anywhere near the £110million being mooted, expect departures as well as arrivals.

But surely not this one…

The Mirror claims Real Madrid are planning a summer bid for Raheem Sterling as concerns grow over the fitness Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese superstar had a World Cup to forget but the Reds will almost certainly refuse any bid for their young winger.

It is not the first time Real have been linked with Sterling but in truth the latest report makes little sense.

The La Liga giants currently have both Angel di Maria and Gareth Bale to call on should Ronaldo be unavailable for a while, and as good as Sterling is, it is a stretch to say he could replace arguably the best player in world football at the tender age of 19.

Real are reportedly prepared to offer a fee in excess of £25million, and if it comes – and it is a big if – Liverpool will surely say thanks but no thanks.
