La Liga transfer latest: Sevilla eye Liverpool flop as Bacca replacement

All the latest summer transfer news from La Liga...

Most of the speculation this summer has surrounded Real Madrid's pursuit of a new central midfielder, but the latest rumours concern one midfielder who could leave the Spanish capital. Asier Illarramendi completed a £30m switch from Real Sociedad to the Champions League winners last summer having been tipped as one of the stars of the future for Spain.

However, the 24-year-old has struggled to make an impact for Carlo Ancelotti's men, and has now been linked with a summer exit. The latest team to join the race for Illarramendi is Porto, who are now manager by Julen Lopetegui - who coached Illarramendi at Under-21 level for the national team. The Portuguese outfit are looking to take him on a season-long loan to continue his development.

Another former Spain Under-21 international who could be leaving La Liga is Barcelona forward Bojan Krkic. A failed loan spell with Ajax has the 23-year-old's future up in the air, and with seemingly little chance of him making an impact at the Camp Nou next season, he could be on the move again - this time to Serie A side Torino after his agent confirmed there is interest.

"Toro like Bojan, but Bojan also likes Torino," said Diego Tavano. "It would be the ideal club for him to get back to the top level. He would very much like to embark on a Granata adventure. It’d be perfect for him."

Meanwhile, Sevilla are bracing themselves for a bid from Atletico Madrid for striker Carlos Bacca. The Colombian impressed last season with 18 goals in all competitions, and speculation suggests that Diego Simeone's side are eyeing the 27-year-old as a potential replacement for Diego Costa.

If that does materialise, reports are linking Sevilla with a move to end Iago Aspas' Liverpool nightmare. The former Celta Vigo man has endured a torrid time on Merseyside, but having starred in La Liga previously, Unai Emery could look to turn to Aspas as a potential Bacca replacement.
