Should Roberto Martinez finally secure a deal to reunite with Chelsea attacker Victor Moses?
Reports circulating in both England and Italy this weekend claim Everton are in pole position for Chelsea winger Victor Moses. But whether those claims are true or not, there is an argument to be had that Roberto Martinez is exactly the type of manager to get the best out of the Nigeria international.
Everton were linked with the player prior to his loan switch to Anfield last summer – a move that was anything but successful.
Moses had shone at Wigan Athletic and the suggestion was he could rediscover his mojo under Brendan Rodgers. But instead the 23-year-old scored just two goals and failed to provide a single assist, racking up 22 appearances in total including 19 in the Premier League (although only six of those were starts).
Martinez has already shown that he can work the loan market wonderfully, getting the best out of the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Gareth Barry and Gerard Deulofeu, while permanently signing men he knew well from his time at Wigan such as James McCarthy and Antolin Alcaraz.
And Moses is another who could fit into that second category, reuniting with a manager who has already shown he knows how to get the best out of the young wide-man.
At 23 Moses still has plenty of time ahead of him to fulfil the potential he has only shown in glimpses. But if Martinez maintains an interest in the player, the time may have finally come for Moses to move to a club where he can feature regularly and rediscover the form that prompted his move to Chelsea.
