Arsenal fans react on Twitter to £44m linked star Vidal's performance v Brazil

Arturo Vidal

To say Arsenal fans were impressed with the Juventus midfielder would be an understatement.

Brazil have kept the hopes and dreams of a nation alive with a victory against Chile in the second round of the World Cup yesterday - but only just.

The two teams were equal in their attacking purpose and the end result was a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes of football. Brazil won penalties, to send the Chileans, who have become many neutrals favourites at the tournament, home early.

In the end Chile have just come up short against more illustrious opponents in the form of Holland and Brazil, but it was not for the want of trying - especially from one of their star players Arturo Vidal.

He has fought back from knee surgery to be fit for the World Cup and has given his all whilst out on the pitch - with yesterday no different.

He was superb in the midfield for Chile, getting back to defend, paying particular close attention to Neymar - whilst also moving up the pitch to get involved with the attack and his fellow star man Alexis Sanchez.

It was a mercurial performance. Were it not for his knee problem he would have also been on the pitch to the end - Chile could have done with Juventus' number one penalty taker to get past Julio Cesar.

Of course Vidal's class is well known, in fact this week he has been linked with a sensational move to Arsenal.

The Gunners are believed to be interested in the player, with a reported £44 million bid being readied.

Arsene Wenger even spoke of him this week, calling Vidal 'one of the best midfielders in the world'.

With that in mind many an Arsenal fan paid special attention to the game last night - touting him as a major success if indeed Arsenal do break their transfer record for the second summer in a row.
