A former Manchester United mainstay, captain and legendary Old Trafford right back Gary Neville, 39, knows all the attributes required to excel from a full back position and is "happy" that his former club have recruited Southampton wonderkid Luke Shaw - a deal that was confirmed by the club earlier today, Friday.
"[He] is a massive talent," wrote Neville on his official Twitter account having spent the past month with the player due to his coaching responsibilities with the England national football team.
Neville continued: "Don't expect the world straight away, but give him time - he will fly!"
Considering primary left back Patrice Evra, 33 - a pitch legend - was handed a one year extension in his contract just a few months ago, it remains to be seen who will be Louis van Gaal's preferred option when the club season begins.
However, there is little to separate the two players as, just last season, Shaw saw more touches on the football, attempted far more dribbles on a per game basis and returned comparable statistics in key departments such as crossing accuracy, chances created, dueling and tackling.

United assistant manager Ryan Giggs said on the club's official website: "Luke is a very talented young left-back with great potential. He has developed immensely during his time at Southampton and has all the attributes to become a top player.
"I am delighted he has joined Manchester United as I believe this is the right club for him to continue his development as a young player and eventually fulfil that promise."
