On this day: £15m man on Arsenal 'crushing' him; £7m Chelsea man loaned out

On the 28th June 2013 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

Let's cast our eyes back to this exact day, the 28th June 2014, but a year earlier.

What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the 28th June 2013…

Unhappy Andrey

Andrey Arshavin had just secured an exit from Arsenal, joining his former team Zenit St Petersburg after a disappointing end to his time at The Emirates.

He was once the club's most expensive signing at £15 million but it soon turned sour despite a good start to life in North London.

But he was relieved to leave:

"The fact is I didn’t want to stay in England, this was clear since January. I don’t regret anything, but I had to leave. It was a punishment sat on the bench. To train even though you know you won’t play – it is psychologically difficult. I nearly suffered depression, but I didn’t because I’m mentally strong. The monotony of life there was crushing me."

Marko Mar-out

Chelsea loaned out German flop Marko Marin to Sevilla. He was signed from Werder Bremen for £7 million the summer before but he had struggled badly with a hamstring problem throughout the campaign - playing just 16 games for the club.

He has had a decent time in Spain, and the club would like to keep hold of him. But his best friend at the club Ivan Rakitic has left and he is believed to be considering his options ahead of next season.

Tottenham were being linked with a move for Henrikh Mkhitaryan of Shakthar Donetsk. The Armenian playmaker had been heavily linked with Liverpool all summer.

However in the end neither team got their man. Mkhitaryan moved to Borussia Dortmund, although he had an injury disrupted campaign and they will not feel they missed out too much just yet.
