1) Real Madrid want Asmir Begovic
The Stoke Sentinel is reporting that Spanish giants Real Madrid are lining up a £15million offer for Asmir Begovic.
Begovic has been linked with a move away from the Britannia for a considerable amount of time now, after his form over recent seasons has caught the attention of Europe’s top clubs, and it appears to Madrid could be leading the race for his signature.
If he was to move to the Bernabeu he would face some serious competition for the number one spot with Iker Casillas and Diego Lopez already at the club.
2) West Bromwich Albion alerted by Jack Rodwell availability.
West Bromwich Albion could be about to step up their chance for Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell, with reports that he could be allowed to leave the Sky Blues for the right price surfacing.
Alan Irvine has spoken of his desire to do a deal for Rodwell in the past, but it appeared as if City were still intending to keep the youngster in the hope that he would fulfil his potential in the near future.
However, the news of his availability today will alert Baggies that they could still be in with a chance of securing one of their main summer transfer targets.
If they are to make an offer for Rodwell they will have to compete with Everton, though, as the Toffees are also interested in bringing the dynamic central-midfielder back to Goodison Park.
3) David Cotterill hoping for exciting football at Birmingham City
David Cotterill has spoken of his desire to play in a side that plays attacking, entertaining football after his move to Birmingham City this week.
Cotterill feels that he would make the biggest impression if he was able to play in a side that put precedence on going forward, and hopes that Lee Clarke will instil an attacking mentality at St. Andrews for the upcoming season.
“We will go with whatever the manager decides, I am sure most managers these days want their wingers to be helping out and working their socks off like everyone else,” the former Doncaster Rovers winger said to the Birmingham Mail.
“But, hopefully, we can play exciting football along the way as well.”
4) Kenny Jackett tells three players they can leave
Kenny Jackett has added Razak Boukari, Tongo Doumbia and Georg Margreitter to the list of players who can leave Molinuex this season.
After the club were promoted to the Championship last campaign, Jackett has looked to clear-out some of the squad that were not able to force their way into the starting line-up and he has confirmed that the aforementioned trio are free to leave the club this summer.
Margreitter had looked set for a move to FC Copenhagen, but the Danish club pulled out of the transfer at the last minute, whilst Boukari and Doumbia are likely to move on loan to France.
5) Jeff Hendrick targeting promotion this season
Jeff Hendrick is hoping that Derby County can build on their impressive form last season and gain promotion to the Premier League in the upcoming campaign.
The Rams fell just short of promotion last season, when they were unfortunate to lose to QPR in the playoff-final, but Hendrick, who has just signed a new four deal at the club, is hoping that the side can go one better this year.
“I think I improved as last season went on,” the midfielder said to the Derby Telegraph.
“With his (McClaren’s) coaching, I certainly benefitted and I felt like I ended last season in good form. My performances improved after I got a run of games under my belt.
“Hopefully I can keep doing that and we can have another good season but go one step further.”
