A select round-up of news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United are interested in signing right-back Daryl Janmaat according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims Louis van Gaal wants to follow up the signings of Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw with a potential swoop for the Holland international.

Janmaat was strongly linked with Arsenal earlier this year, but with doubts remaining over the long-term future of Rafael – and with just a year left on the Dutch player’s current deal – a move to Old Trafford could be on the cards.

In other news, the Daily Star claims Arsenal are planning to take Arturo Vidal from under the noses of United.

The Chilean midfielder has been outstanding for Juventus in recent times, and has shone at this summer’s World Cup. He is regarded in some quarters as the most complete central midfielder currently playing the game, and would be an outstanding signing for United.

But the latest report suggests the Gunners are keen, and will bid a huge £44million for the player.

And finally, former United striker Andy Cole has told the Express he thinks the club need three more signings if they want to win the Premier League next season.

He told the newspaper that United need “four or five” players to get back to their former title-winning glory, and with Herrera and Shaw now in, that leaves three more new faces possibly to follow.
