The Premier League Golden Boot winner will miss four months of crucial football with Liverpool who will be challenging across the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup next term but the Reds might find there are some options to cover his absence.
1) Tom Ince
The former Reds youngster has been linked with a return to Anfield for several transfer windows but Blackpool have been more than a little reluctant to let him go. The son of former Liverpool and Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince, the young forward and winger was on loan at Crystal Palace since January but the time could now be right for him to make a step up to a top Premier League side.
2) Samuel Eto’o
A former Chelsea striker, the 33-year-old Cameroon international will be released by the Blues this summer after having fallen out with Jose Mourinho. He scored 12 goals for Chelsea last term and has experience at the highest level in England, Spain, Italy and Russia.
3) Gerard Deulofeu
The Barcelona youngster was on loan at Merseyside rivals Everton last term and will likely be sent back out on loan next term. The 20-year-old could be lured back to the city in order to gain access to Champions League football which Everton have not.
4) Loic Remy
The 27-year-old Frenchman scored 14 goals on loan with Newcastle last term and whilst QPR are thought to be looking to move him away on a permanent basis they might be open to hash a deal if Liverpool offer some of their youngsters out on loan in return.
5) Alvaro Morata
The 21-year-old Real Madrid striker will be hopeful of finding first-team football next term and he is unlikely to find it at the Bernabeu. He scored 9 goals last term and is bursting with potential amidst suggestions that the European champions are reluctant to sell him and would prefer to send him on a loan move.
