Paramount to air Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle documentary in the US this August.
We had to take stock a little when we heard Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the larger-than-life half-shelled heros celebrate their 30th anniversary this year. Immediately we’re taken back to the annoyingly catchy refrains of the TV theme tune permeating tea -time and countless wasted hours in the arcades trying to beat the game with limited pocket money.
Just last month the Turtles turned thirty, a kooky franchise that from humble beginnings as an indie comic book parody TMNT have risen to meteoric fame gaining toys, TV shows, films and numerous video games. And love is still growing strong for the anthropomorphic ninjitsu renaissance masters, strong enough to tempt the Hollywood reboot machine to bankroll another TMNT movie. A trailer is below showing how that’s going to look when it releases in the US on 8th August.
Accompanying the release Paramount are also due to launch Turtle Power a new fandom documentary charting the creation and rise in popularity of the Ninja Turtles against the odds,
“In the spring of 1984, a strange new comic book sat beside cash registers in select shops, too big to fit in the racks, and too weird to ignore,” reads the film description “Eastman and Laird’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles presented a completely original breed of super hero. It was too bizarre, too crazy. It broke all the rules and should never have worked. Until it sold out. Again and again and again. For 30 years. Now, peek under the shell and see how this so-called “happy accident” defied every naysayer to become one of the most popular and beloved franchises in the world.”

Here’s the trailer for Turtle Power which will be out in the US on August 12th on digital and DVD. We are of course keen to watch this one as well.
