Rio Ferdinand talks up United youngster - not Lawrence, not Wilson

Old Trafford

Manchester United reserve star Michael Keane has been lauded by former centre back mainstay.

Manchester United's recruitment of Louis van Gaal has multiple benefits.

In the transfer market, the Dutchman has an appeal to players due to his unique coaching methods, the results that he yields and his 20-year pedigree at the top of the management game.

However, he also has an expertise when it comes to nurturing youth talent and overseeing successful promotions from a club's academy into the senior squad.

Adnan Januzaj is one player who stands to benefit the most, as van Gaal is a master at crafting a talented youth into world beating superstars such as Thomas Muller, Dennis Bergkamp and Marc Overmars.

There are other youth players - Tom Lawrence and James Wilson - who are touted as prospects van Gaal will relish getting his hands on but, according to former United mainstay Rio Ferdinand, 21-year-old defender Michael Keane is also one for the future.

He said on Twitter: "[Michael Keane] will be a top player one day. [He is] eager to learn and to be coached. [This is] vital."
