It’s being reported that Arron Afflalo has been traded to the Denver Nuggets from the Orlando Magic. Could the swingman be on his way to Minnesota?
Arron Afflalo has been sent to the Denver Nuggets in a trade with the Orlando Magic for Evan Fournier and the number 56 of last night’s draft, which was used to take Roy Devyn-Marble.

For Orlando this was clearly a move to free up cap space, allowing for flexibility as they move forward in their re-build. They also wanted to grab as much as they could before Afflalo likely opted out of his contract next year. And while it may look as though Denver have done a tidy bit of business, there may be more to come.
Afflalo had arguably the best year of his career last year, averaging a career high 18.2 points per game, while hitting a superb 42.7% of his three-point shots.
With his contract expiring, he can opt out next summer, Afflalo became a hot topic of conversation in free agent rumour mill. While the Chicago were meant to be the leaders in the race for Afflalo, Denver swooped in last night to bring him to Mile High City.
As an player, Afflalo is valuable in himself, but the Nuggets may have acquired Afflalo as an asset to include in a trade package for Kevin Love. Last week Steve Bulpett reported the Nuggets were attempting to construct a trade which would see Kenneth Faried, Wilson Chandler and a player-to-be-acquired to Minnesota in exchange for Love. That player? Arron Afflalo.
Whether or not Minnesota are interested in such a trade remains unknown, but what we can see is that Nuggets are not pulling any punches in their attempt to bring the talented power forward to Denver. If Minnesota were interested in the proposed trade, Denver now have all the pieces to make it happen.
