Divock Origi has been one of the bright sparks in this Belgium team littered with starts at this World Cup. The 19-year-old's appearances from the bench seem to bring his side to life, having made an impact in all three of their group games.
The Lille striker has been attracting the attention of a few Premier League clubs in recent weeks including Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, but in the past few days Liverpool have emerged as the front-runners to sign the promising striker from the Ligue 1 club. The rumours surrounding a fee have ranged between £7 million and £14 million - with Liverpool reportedly allowing him to stay in France for a season to aid his development before linking up with the Reds.
People on twitter had their say over Origi's performance as he came off the bench in Belgium's 1-0 win over South Korea, which preserved their 100% record at this tournament so far. Origi had a big hand in the goal, as it was his shot that forced the save to allow Jan Vertonghen to knock home the rebound in Sao Paulo.
The twitter reaction to him seems pretty positive, and a lot of football fans seem to like the look of him but there seems to be a degree of scepticism given the rumoured fee surrounding the player.
From what I see of this Belgian forward origi, he looks really talented. Would need regular playing time to develop his ability.— Kazeem Taiwo (@kazeemtai) June 27, 2014
I actually rate this Divock Origi kid. He would suit Liverpool's counter attacking style.— ÖxfordGooner (@OxonGooner) June 27, 2014
Origi is younger than Borini, looks more promising than Borini & already has big match experience, all for a price lesser than Borini. Get in!— Srivatsa (@VATSApp_) June 27, 2014
That origi looks like he could be another decent signing if last nights anything to go by— Josh Ramsay (@JJRamsay4) June 27, 2014
So this Origi scores 1 goal in the World Cup and Liverpool may pay £12m for him. Sounds about right— Tony Bramley (@TonyBramley) June 27, 2014
