Arsenal transfer news: Record breaking move for Vidal suggested; Montero targeted

All the latest transfer news and gossip from The Emirates Stadium this morning.

Arsenal are now being linked with joining the race for the coveted Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal of Juventus.

The superstar's agent flew to Brazil yesterday to discuss the potential transfer of his client to either Manchester United or Real Madrid.

He is believed to want a move away from Juventus, as he feels he has come as far as he can at the Serie A outfit.

The Gunners would have to pay in the region of £44 million for the dynamic midfielder, which would break the current transfer record set when signing Mesut Ozil last September.

Arsenal are said to be interested in Ecuadorian winger Jefferson Montero - who has been on top form at the World Cup in Brazil.

Montero currently plays in Mexico for Monarcas Morelia, and is expected to swap Central America for Europe this summer.

He has now even made it clear that he has an offer from the continent:

"It's certain that I'll leave the league, but let's see where I'll go. We expect to sort it out within the next few days. I already have an offer, the club are handling it. Let's see where I'll go but for now I have some days off. I can tell you that it won't be Mexico. It will be Europe and thank God we are working on it, I hope it works out."

Arsenal are being linked with Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender once again. The club have been linked with him on two separate occasions in recent years.

However he only recently made it clear he had no desire to leave the club as he did not feel ready for the Premier League and the sources appear fragile at the best.

This remains conjecture.
